Hey all,
Just wondering, the S1 was type-approved with the Safety Devices / Schroth harnesses and they’re road-legal for road and race use.
Now, the harnesses have a 5 year expiry on them, the ones on mine expire in 2005.
I was wondering, can you get the same belts with the same type approval number but with a later expiry? Basically what I want to know is can you get the OEM Exige S1 harnesses brand new with a full-new expiry period.
It’s just that I may run into problems here trying to get them to accept my original harnesses when it has stamped on it “do not use after 2005”.
The date tag is only for FIA competition use. IT does not affect their road use. You can get a replacement one from fellow Exige owner Malcom Sanders.

Aah ok,
Only thing is that while I can get the seatbelt complied for road ues, in NZ when I take it to a motorsport event they look at the expiry and say that if it’s expired, it’s no good.
I’m happy to fork out for new ones, and I’ll buy them off Malcolm (I met him in NZ when he came over with LoT), I just want to make sure that the “fresh” belts will be FIA compliant up until (say) 2012, but they still have all the right numbers so that they will pass for road legal in NZ.
In Nz they’re REAL sticklers about seatbelts, if the numbers don’t match up just right then, they’re illegal. Ironically they won’t let me on track with expired harnesses, but they’ll let me on track with ropey old worn out 3-point lap-sash belts… go figure
