Sale or Return

Shameless cross post from Seloc, but not all on here are members or regular readers…
Verdi SoR

Now I have done the whole SoR thing before with my Sport190 and the whole process went well with Stratton Motor Company and Guy Munday, I never even considered situations like this, but it does make you think a little harder.
I am also surprised this never came to attention before from David Yu as he suffered with this company several years ago.

A few years ago a used Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche/etc dealer, based in Lancs, did the same, & he ended up in nick. A year or so later he was out, & is today trading in similar cars, & I presume on an S-O-R basis.

Wow, that’s bad news man!!

SOR?

SOR Sex Offender Registry
SoR School of Rock
SOR severe off-road ???

Sale or return

ahhh i see, dealers getting stock without the cashflowing!

Selling peoples cars on their behalf and running off with the cash …

sorry yes should expanded that line, nothing wrong with SoR if you actually get the .

Think i’d hold the V5 as not like anyone views, pays and drives away in one swoop.

to be honest if I ever did it again I would hold the V5 and one set of keys and get a contract signed, none of which I did with Guy, but obviously they are honest

Back in the 80’s early 90’s there were quite a few car dealers here in LA that ran a scam by having their consignment customers hand over their titles sayin they needed them for a quick sale and then then using them for bank collateral to get loans and then sell the cars and make off with the banks money also.

There were quite a few bogus certified bank checks used by car thieves in suits, they would get the check from the bank and then report it lost just before they handed the check over to the dealer…

Back then I did all my transactions at the bank, no checks, no cash just wire transfers on the spot…

ever get stung frank?

Almost but Mr. Colt had a way of helping things work out…

Does anyone remember a commpany back in the late 70s called" Victoria carriage company"They wre based in Buckingham Palace road by Ebury Bridge.Three floors of an old warehouse full of classics and veteren cars. Was interested in a couple of cars they had.On both occasions i asked if i could speak with the cars owner and they gave me the same old crap that the owner was abroad and couldnt be contacted. They was there a few years and if i remember correctly they finished up doing time.
