S2 Trackday Settings?

Advice please - and before the S1 clan start with the “you should have bought a S1, not an Elise Coupe”, please don’t rub it in!

Last weekend at Rockingham was my 4th trackday and slowly I am starting to get the feel of the car and getting a little faster on each outing. The problem is that the faster I get the more the car tends to leeeaaannn in the bends. On the exit of the hairpin leading onto the smaller pitlane straight, I was getting a rumble from the outisde rear - I am hoping that this was wheel arch liner rub and nothing more serious.

I appreciate that you need a certain amount of suspension travel but on the track what is the acknowledged setup?

The car is an 07 with sports and super sports packs, front anti roll bar on the middle position, shocks set at 8 front and 7 rear, tyre pressures at 24 front, 25 rear when warm.

See what I mean;

Thanks in advance

0.5 degree negative camber front is a must…on my Exige (not S) balanced improved beyond belief!! Although I’d let someone else confirm that from here first rather than take my word as that was my first ever mod and it seems like bloody ages ago!

Im not gonna be a massive amount of use but I was gonna comment on the fact that you have some great pics there!

I can’t take any credit for them

When I got my S it felt okay on the road but much wollowy on track, I tried a car with the Ltus Super sports suspension and it didn’t seem vastly better, then I tried a car with Nitrons and much stiffer springs. the change was like night and day on track and still was excellent on track, so I bought nitrons and the Eliseparts roll bar which afaik is stiffer than the Lotus item too. Had it all fitted and got them to remove all the front camber shims, the car is now great with very little roll. Still not as flat as my S1 Elise Sport190 but very close. Damn these slightly lardy S2’s

its a shame all 3 pics are way out of focus

he does normally do great pics but must have had a bad day.
or be using the Canon 1D MK3 :slight_smile:

any way free tips are take out all your shims at the front and put your ARB on full stiff.

that might keep you happy for a couple more

but if you want to do many track days new shocks is the only way.
