I have recently purchased a Exige GT (without the GT pack) and need some advice on setup.
I have purchased the Ohlins 36mm dampers & the AP big brake kit & the upgraded anti roll bar in a quest to bring the car back to the GT spec. The Ohlins are the 240R spec.
My question is on setup. I would like advice on the following after the Ohlins are fitted
What is the suggested ride height setting ?
What are the suggested default damper settings.
I would like to set the car up for predominantly track
use.
Does anybody have information regarding advanced damper
settings
Which setting should I set the ARB at after the dampers
are setup
Just had my Ohlins fitted. Looked at the Lotus Sport settings & have a potentially stupid question
Here goes
On the suspensions settings chart it says for example P7 Bump and P5 rebound.
Are these movements from full hard (turned fully clockwise) or from full soft (fully turned anticlockwise)
Probably really obvious & I await the barrage of abuse
I know what you mean, the instructions arn’t that clear. But have dialed in the settings from fully soft on my car. But that’s just the starting point.
My next mod is rear toe link brace and full geo set up, possably at Pheonix Motorsport.
Have just double checked with a Ohlins distributor and you are right. Settings are to be dialed in from full hard. Will make some adjustments to my car
Thanks David
Not sure about starting off with a fully hard ARB.
Just did Donnington Park - dry day, little traffic = perfect
Had the ARB set on second hole from the front & the dampers set as per the default Donny settings below. Tyres set at 24 hot allround.
Benchmark Settings - Donington Park
Front Damper
Bump P4
Rebound P5
Rear Damper
Bump P2
Rebound P4
Front Anti Roll Bar P2
Big Problems
Could not get the car to turn in & loads of tyre squeal.
So I softened the front bump by 2 clicks as instructed by the Lotus troubleshooting guide. Result - a little better but still lots of understeer.
Eventually took 2 more clicks of bump from the front & 2 clicks on the rear. Cured the understeer but felt too soft.
I want the car to be sharper & stiffer but if I have to run the car on these settings it sort of defeats the object of having better/adjustable dampers
Not sure on spring rates - Std 36mm Ohlins - Says 240r on box
Running 0.5 negative camber on the front. Have bought shim set from Eliseparts ready to make changes (looks like a waste of money eh ?)

Ride height is set at 120mm front & rear.
Thanks

Spring rates on those are 325 lb front 425 lb rear.
