I’ve done a search but there doesn’t seem to be much out there beyond the Gotham remap option. What other power upgrade options are there for an S2? Any ideas how far you can go with the existing bottom end? Is 300bhp achievable?
Yes 300hp is posible, I was one of the first if not the first in the UK to get to around the 300hp mark with over 200lb/ft of torque. So I suppose a shopping list would be a good start. I’ll do this for if it was a base S and you can delete what you already have…
430cc injectors
Uprated fuel pump
Smaller pulley
Decent manifold
Sport cat or decat
Stright through exhaust 2bular gt3 or similar
Smaller SC pulley to give 9.5psi of boost
Proalloy Chargecooler
Sinclaire to do a bespoke map
now the downsides and stuff I have learnt as my car
The std clutch won’t last
you will need a big exhaust box to pass the drive by at Bedford Goodwood and Donny
you need a triple bypass rad
also top mounted rad fans would be a good idea to help stave of the still eventual heat soak
if you are going to heavily track the car the gearbox will fail
to help with the gearbox drain the oil and get it replaced with a better quality one
I am also going to start to build some extra cooling in and test the gearbox temps
So overall if you can live with an impending gearbox failure and the car being much faster give Wayne at Sinclaire a call
To be honest I never did care I broke it i was more upset I missed half a track day at Spa, this does however mean I will be going back next year with a stronger and cooler gearbox
It certainly does Damon, I have never been to a track before that after a sighting lap I went of to book tuition, every corner is a challenge in some way and some I didn’t even have a clue where to turn in If it wasn’t for following Jonny I think I would have got lost…
Have you tried contacting the factory and asking about the 270 gt4 upgrade they do for the 2-11… (Russ or Roland at Motorsport would be best to speak to)
Seeing as your starting with the 260cup car as a base I imagine they would sell you the kit. Cant see why they wouldn’t tbh.
Consists - revised ecu (270), hks cone filter, smaller pulley, new exhaust manifold, cat and back box, new flywheel and clutch.
Come time to sell you’ll also see more of your money back on the car I would have thought with it being factory upgrades rather than 3rd party (ie it will be worth more than a std car not the same as…)
Ade and TT, thanks for the details. Sounds like it’s a serious undertaking then. If I was going for a new car, I wouldn’t want to go that far, or take those kinds of reliability risks. My S1 has been worked on at both Sincs and H111 before, so I know those guys well enough. I’ll give 'em both a shout and see what they reckon (or Greg, I bet you’re reading this, so feel free to wade in ) but it does sound like a reliable 280ish might be a sensible upper bound.
