S2 NA Touring Oil Cooler

I have always assumed that the Sport Pack Exiges have twin oil coolers and the touring pack cars don’t have any. However, whilst doing the winter service on my 06 Exige Touring I discovered one cooler, passenger’s side on my car. The driver’s side does not have a cooler but I think I can see a “link through” oil pipe. The cooler is behind the front mesh with an exit into the front arch. IS this normal and can a second cooler be added to the driver’s side (and is it worth it for track day use?)

Thanks

Yes it links under the front crash structure, I would have thought you could just add another no problem, but I’ve only ever taken my car with two coolers apart. Not to plug but I have just removed both mine if you need one. However…there is a theory that says two oil coolers put more pressure, too much some say on the oil pump!

your not very good at this selling thing mate lol.

Could be interested in the cooler, I don’t fancy taking the clam off again but as it looks like the car will be recalled next year for leaking oil cooler pipes I could get the two jobs done at once.

Hmmm …
I’m about to piss people off again ,but, does your car need additional oil cooling ?
… why add weight and complexity for no reason ?
Sorry if I’ve missed owt but , …if it ain’t broke …

That was the second part of my question, does it need one? I only use it for track days. The car does not have an oil temp gauge but the water ever goes high.

I am rather surprised lotus fitted all the pipe work and then only fitted one cooler, implies it needs one but not two.

Probably more cost effective for them in some way …a bit like lower spec cars having full electrical looms but not using all the connectors …

I can confirm my NA '07 (probably built '06) has just the one cooler near side
