I have also looked for this information on the net, but could not find feedback from anyone who would have tried on an S2 Elise or Exige. The end of the intake manifold, where the throttle body is place is slightly different. What seems to be possible however is to combine a Corolla manifold with a R9k manifold, as the end of the R9k manifold seems to align with the Celica one :
I spoke with r9ktuned about this the other day - they said they werenāt sure about fitment as it does have an angle to the end where the throttle body mounts (similar to the Corolla) so I ordered a Corolla intake to see if that would work in our cars - will let you know when I get itā¦
Yes indeed! I noticed some Corolla owners reporting up to 8bhp just from porting the intake manifoldā¦ but then, it seems you really canāt always trust forums for bhp gains sometimesā¦ Mineās at 210bhp and it feels like it - but according to a lot of these forums it shouldāve been much more than that, so I donāt necessarily believe everything I read nowadays
The Corolla manifold turned up today and after a bit of guesswork and fiddling, I think it should probably squeeze in there. So Iāve done the only sensible thing (as-per man-maths guidelines) and ordered the r9ktuned plenum and gasketsā¦ Need to find someone to port the Corolla intake runners for me and then Iāll get it installed!
Good news on the fitment, following this with interest. Canāt help with the porting, but I do understand there are some decent gains to be made there
Hello Matt,
Iām a french guy and I just discovered your post. Iām following it with interest. I own an elise 111R so with the same 2ZZ engine, Iāve been looking at the R9K plenum for a long time but without knowing if it was possible to install it.
My goal is to stay in atmospheric. Do you have any news about the R9K plenum and the installation ?
If you have any advice for the preparation of this engine Iām interested.
Thanks a lot
For reference (and to try to appear even slightly sane) I took the colour scheme from my Lotus hoodie, which is dark grey and bright greenā¦ My car is dark grey, so I thoughtā¦ why not!?!
Iām by no means an expert, but I canāt immediately think why the DBW throttle body wouldnāt be compatible with this - my guess is that it would just work? Iām currently using the original throttle bodyā¦ will possibly change it in due course if I feel the need, but the engine already feels strong, so Iām a little unsure what Iām even trying to achieve, lol! I think Iām just addicted to modding!
