S2 NA + Mods

I think I know a Honda car using this, apparently it’s a good improvement over the Lotus one.

Using a heater matrix bypass is something I planned to retrofit to my Lotus one next time my clam is off, it should work a lot better on cool air - even without AC.

One thing though, does it need a mechanical linkage from the control panel or is it a potentiometer? Lotus changed that at some point (maybe from Rover to Toyota?) so might limit what cars can use this?

That’s an interesting point! I’m pretty sure it’s a mechanical linkage actually… at worst, I’ll get a working heater that I have to set to the temperature I want from the access panels, lol - that’s much better than I currently have (no way to set the temperature and no fans!)

Might be able to retrofit a control panel from a Rover S2? Not sure how similar they are but you might be able to get something working if that’s the case.

Yeah, I have a 2004 car, so all the old dash layout… might be worth a look in time - if I can make it work AT ALL I’ll be quite happy to start with

Very wet start to a Donny GP track day today! Brightened up mid-morning so I got to try out my A052 tyres for the first time - they’re really good! They melt quicker than the R888R but they remain controllable and they recover after just a few corners of taking it a bit easier. Thoroughly impressed!

The car felt so well sorted today - I kept going out for 15 lap stints and it just didn’t care at all - it looks like my laps were regularly around 1m55s and sometimes was on for more like a high 1m53s but got traffic… Obviously I’m just saying numbers though, not actually timing anything as I’m sure you know.

I met a couple of really nice guys who had some very saucy Cup 430s while I was there too… not jealous obviously… cough, cough… my little 4-pot put on a good show though, so I went away very happy

I saw the photos of the early weather (from the aforementioned 430 owners!) and it looked grim! What a turnaround.

Any gopro going?

I’ll try to get the little footage off it tomorrow - unlike usual, the battery didn’t die…. but I filled up the storage! This thing is a nuisance! :frowning:

Finally managed to get something off the GoPro and onto YouTube! It looks really slow and smooth - and it clearly shows I’m not pushing the car anywhere near its limits, but I was having a lot of fun and it felt fast at the time, lol! Don’t be too harsh!

Had my first stab at Silverstone GP today (and met andyzim at the same time!)… I didn’t know the circuit at all but was getting a little more comfortable by late morning… Car running fantastically - very strong performance! Think I’ll go again in the future, but Donington is still my fave

Was nice to meet you Matt. Shame we couldn’t get out on track together this time

Nice photo mate!

Great stuff, do love Silverstone even if it can feel like you can get lost through some of the corners as it’s so wide

Nice to see there was a wee Exiges meet too, we need to get organised next year.

There were a couple of v6 Exige too at the posh end of the pitlane
