S2 harness bar removal: how to?

Hello,

I need to remove the rear bulkhead plastic trim panel in order to change the fuel pump on the Exige S2.
I have the Lotus harness bar fitted.
How can I remove this harness bar?

I have removed the speakers but both speakers trim panel are still in place.
As these are fixed with plastic rivets, can I remove the harness bar without drilling the rivets and thus removing the speakers trim panel?

Thanks for your help.

Just did this over the weekend, you need to remove the sound deadening from behind the speakers, then use a deed reach socket and ratchet to undo the bolt holding on the harness bar through the hole where the speaker was. do the same on the other side then slide the bar to one side so the other side becomes loose, pull the bar towards you and extract. Reverse to operation to refit, it will help you a lot if you tape the washer to the harness bar to refit

Thanks Adrian,

I have removed the speakers but both speakers trim panels (with the plastic rivets) are still in place.
Do you know if I can remove the harness bar bolts without removing these speakers trim panels as I’d like to keep the plastic rivets in place if possible?

I did mine with them in place, it is just awkward to get your hands and the ratchet in there.

Ade, do you have a wife or girlfriend?

Yes I do and lovely she is as well  (she does read here sometimes) best be on good behavior

So thats what the big black bar is running begind the seats in front of the speakers lol ! I had wondered

Lot of extra weight to be carrying round if you dont use the 4 point harness !

As Adrian has already said, it can be done without removing the plastic rivets. It is very fiddly though, and took me quite a few attempts to find a socket just deep enough.

I’ve need to take mine out shortly again to swap fuel pumps…not looking forward to that job :frowning:

So is this bar fitted to all exiges or just the sport ?

Just the sport

Think that will be coming out then !

I tried today to reach the bolt with the speaker trim panel but could not put my hand and tool…
