On the water clearing, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, that style of tire may clear okay but they’ll suddenly act differently between 3mm and 2mm. It’s just physics.

True that R888s will not clear water at 2mm tread depth as efficiently as at 5mm depth, however they are still better than AO48s at the same tread depth.
If you want a pure road tyre that’ll cope with winter too then neither R888 nor AO48 are the best choice.
I had Toyo Proxes T1R’s last winter. Didn’t drive it much but I didn’t like them at all (in comparison with the A048’s it had on b4).
I have R888’s now. Cant fault them at all. My first dry track day at Cadwell and I thought they were fantastic - certainly good enough for an amateur like me
I set off worrying about my 47k mile K going pop then thought ***k it!
By the end of the day I found myself wondering why others were braking when I wasn’t needing to and chasing down the ‘opposition’ and shouting ‘get out of my way you ****ing gay’ etc…
I was still missing the kerbs/apex by upto 4 foot but Mr Soggster followed me round and coached as required

Ah the universal language of an Exige owner on track
