I switched on the ignition in my S1 VHPD and left it on for a few minutes before I started it and drove off. The car refused to idle when cold and even when warned up (revs dropped and it cut out). I tried a couple of short power off cycles and they did not help.
Tried again after leaving it off and for about 30 minutes and all was perfect again.
Does the ECU do some sort of reset if left with the ignition on? No doors were opened until I started it the first time.
Hi Keith,
I don’t think the issue is caused by the ECU. I only know of one way to reset it (without using a OBD controller) that is pushing the throttle pedal four times to the floor and then wait until the fuel pump primes (again).
I guess that some of the engine ancillaries causes the problem. My first bet would be that the IACV got stuck as it is driven to some half way open position when the ignition is turned on. It may have heated up while the ignition was on but the engine wasn’t running. When you turned the ignition off for 30 minutes it cooled down again.

Good call. Never considered the Iacv could have got physically stuck. I do suspect it was in the wrong (closed) position.
