S1 Hardtop

Anyone know if there are any original/replica hard tops available for sale?

I always kinda wanted to modify the fit of the S1 hardtop to be more like the S2 equivalent to make it a bit more aerodynamic and to look better cause lets face it, the S1 hard top looks tacked on at the last minute especially at the front.

I was corresponding with Eltech Italia about the possibility of doing a replica of the original or a modified one and they look interested in doing a version for the S1 but I need to find an extra hard top to send them which is proving difficult.

Have you contacted Jon @ lotushardtops? He may be able to assist?

No I have not but I checked his site and he does not offer S1 exige hardtops?

Still worth a call. If not Jon might know someone who can help.

I asked Jon if he was interested in making an S1 Exige roof a while ago, he said no, but I wonder if there was any others who were interested if he would do a small batch?

There is a company called Revozport in HK (I think) who made quite a lot of bits for the s1, including the roof.

Are you referring to the standard Exige hard top or the optional Elise hard top? As I don’t think the Ex one looks “tacked on”. Nor does the Elise one, come to think of it.

I love the look of the S1 hardtop.
I know what you mean when you describe it but for me that is the whole part of the charm.
It gives it a pocket muscle car look and blends well with the overall look.

Getting a good fit and finish in a price point that works could be a challenge.

I biased, but I think the Elise S1 hardtop looks good. I agree the lip at the front could have been done better but it’s a lot better than some hard tops on other cars. At least it’s in keeping with the lines of an S1 and does the job well, still prefer to drive it with roof off mind!

The main thing is that I would like to get the lip on the front right. The S2 is perfect. Also the way the S1 Exige roof is, there is a greater chance of it catching air and lifting off. If I can get a used roof, I can send it for modifications to Italy and Eltech are ready to make copies of it (original or modified).

I think you are still muddling up the S1 Elise (removable) hardtop with the S1 Exige (non-removable) hardtop. I believe you are asking about the former so you would be better off asking in a S1 Elise forum than on here.
