S1 gear change

I am trying to improve the gear change on my S1 Exige and have cleaned and greased all the linkages on the box but it has made no difference.

The cables move OK so I am wondering which way to go now.

Search www.eliseparts.com for gearlinkage kit, & quickshift.

Do you know the difference between the quickshift gear lever and the standard one.

As it says, the “throw” is reduced with the quickshift. Many (like myself) prefer it, but others don’t!

When I fitted the quick shift kit to my car, it had two different positions available, each position reduces the gear lever throw, if you go for the more extreme setting 5th gear can be a bit of a bugger to select sometimes. Think I ended up going for the less extreme setting.

I know what a quick shifter does I was after the physical differences between the QS lever and the standard one. I do not have much info on what has been done to mine and compared with a normal car the lever does not move much when changing gear. So I want to check that I do not have a QS fitted already.

The only way to find out is remove it and measure the fulcrum position - then match that to a standrad lever.
Although most quick shifts will have adjustment by a smnall allen screw for the “ball” position - so it may tell you straight away.
