S1 Exige - Sold

I’ll just leave the memory…

Looks nice

Indeed!

Hi Kerry - long time no speak, but hope you, Rox & Uldis are all fit & well. Lovely mota, good luck with the sale.

Good luck with the sale, stunning looking car. It’s a bit too early for me, but I’m kind of hoping this is still for sale in a couple of months when my house sale goes through… :frowning:

Hi Folks, hi Pesky. Last I heard of Uldis he was off around europe doing longboard downhill racing - totally nuts as you’d expect, worth a google.

The car has actually never been better, I’ve spent a lot of time and cash on it recently with the intention of keeping it …however I’ve accumulated a few nice cars over the years and it’s got to the point I should make an effort to reduce the fleet. So this is me making an effort. Part of me was hoping for zero responses, but I’ve spent the day in meetings, finally checked the phone and have several missed calls and emails to follow up on, so unfortunately plenty interest.

Anyone responding from here or scottish elises will get priority, both communities have been a significant part of my exige experience. The exige.com trackway at Donnington was a particular highlight.

Cracking car for the money. Sold by the weekend I would say.

I agree and a particularly good choice of colour!

Just an update - sold my S1 this today, going to a good home down South so you may well see it around in England-shire.

Mixed feelings, but despite my efforts my life seems to have moved on and excuses to use the exige were limited. Already filled the garage space with a 12C, in no way the a same, but maybe a little more likely to get a run.

Well done and enjoy the Macca. Good to know it went quickly at that price Kerry.

Wow, stunning upgrade. Please post some pics of the McLaren

Could someone just remind me of the asking price and mileage please? pm me if you don’t want to post on here. Thanks

Didn’t think your S1 would be around for long Kerry.

ohhh 12C

Seems inappropriate for here, but since you asked…A couple of pics of the 12C

For a first attempt, Mclaren did an amazing job.

Stunning car and scenery

That look the dogs Kerry.

Easier living without the Exige with one of those to play in.

I wouldn’t have missed Shrek at all with a Macca in its garage space

That’s nice!

Well if only it were in the garage. It’s currently back at the dealer getting the aircon brain replaced. I could live with the exige with no aircon, but not the 12C, it’s seriously hot and steamy. McLaren did a terrific job, but it’s not without its problems. My 12C was car No51 so from the hand built assembly prior to mass production (coincidentally my exige was No 50), who knows what they changed after the initial batch, but I’ve found lots of Lotus type issues, which require the standard kit of WD40, cable ties, replacement fasteners and on occasion velcro.

I guess some would be really hacked off with such issues, but I’m planning on keeping it for a good few years so happy to learn and just work my way through them with support when needed. Needless to say it’s awesome to drive.

I just looked to see if I could afford one now I’ve sold the Exige, sadly I can’t…

Well what you need is some man maths. I came to the conclusion if I waited until I was sure I could afford one I would be too old to enjoy it. The whole decision process to less than an hour, then the search started.

The price of the 12C has not changed in the last 12 months, so not unlike an S1 exige investment decision. Much like the S1 exige I have no particular aspiration for any other McLaren, I just like the whole design process associated with the 12C, first attempt at a supercar and the fact it is effectively the DNA for everything else that follows.

Unfortunately there were a few flaws, which explains why it’s currently off getting fixed…but Lotus ownership prepares you well for this stage.
