S1 Exige soft top possibility

I remember seeing pictures of an S1 Exige with the roof modified to allow for a soft top.

I think it was a German car - does anyone remember it, have pics or detail of who did the conversion please?

I don’t care if people think its sacrilege, I won’t be converting a genuine S1 Exige…

Going by the pictures over on Seloc, it looks surprisingly good!

It looks better roofless than the S2 Exige does

Or other wise like this

This was me looking for a nasty squeak between the roof and the roll bar last summer. Had to grind the roof down a bit on two spots and noise was gone . But couldn’t resist the temptation so did a lap in it roof less. Was fun but an Exige has a roof, basta.

Thanks all for the posts.

Tried the search function, nothing useful came up!

I think I’ll be doing something clever with the roof panel so it can be removed. The S2 roof might be a good possibility for a soft top.

Am i missing something here, wouldn’t it make sense to go for a 190 Elise?

Steve already has an extremely stripped out/lightweight Elise, with a highly modified K series engine. He successfully competes in the Gurston Down Hillclimb series, & is looking at ways of “tweaking” the aero on his car, especially the “kamtail” effect of the Exige rear clam.

Here he is talking about the engine he prepped for Dave Skeggs’s race car http://www.elise-r.co.uk/2008/02/18/steve-butts-on-his-reliable-240bhp-k-series-lotrdc-engine/

Maybe he should talk to Maddog

Which, is a very similar path I’m going down with my engine rebuild… save for me keeping the standard 1.8L capacity… hopefully will be a Kwik-K
