S1 Exige sc honda now charge cooled

I had the remainder of the charge cooler completed by sinclaire’s on my supercharged honda s1 exige and picked it up saturday, not really sure how to describe the car now to be honest with you, its just insane…

You can feel it pulling harder once you get upto a certain speed which i didnt think would be possible owing to the fact it was silly quick to begin with… Very very happy with the result, will be posting pics of the engine bay and dyno up here shortly

If anyone is thinking about having this done just do it!! Just gutted the car is now going as im persuing other interests but so happy ive done this whilst im still young, i’ll get another some day in the future im sure

Edited for dyno graph:

The below is at the wheel power i believe which is pretty consistent i think with other versions etc, i was interested in going the cam route too but as im selling decided against the idea

Nice one Dan 300whp :sunglasses:

Made the mistake of ring Maidstone the other week for C/C and cams.

Why do people spend all this money then change their minds . . ?

“Just gutted the car is now going as im persuing other interests”

I paid for the charge cooler a year ago but only just got round to having it fitted but now my circumstances have changed since then, very sad day when it goes :frowning:

Mad20v, let me know how the cams go etc, i would have had that done too if i was keeping it, ive heard with cams you’ll be looking at 360-370bhp haha, thats insane!!

thats nearly as much as the audi’s…

And almost as much as the rotrex’s

And almost as powerful as my starter motor!!

But only half as powerful as Boothy’s hairdryer

what sort of crazy power are you chaps now running then, mine scares me sometimes, your cars must be mad!!

Does anyone offer these power upgrades in the north (manchester area) ? I have a link-up car and want more talent enhancer. 380+ would be nice. I already have the toda cams, are these the ones you guys are referring to above ? Is it worth fitting the later manifold as well (DC5 or something) ? Any help is very much appreciated.

Lastly, are these engines reliable at these sorts of hp ?

David

IMHO you’re pushing the stock K20 engine conversion, if you go over 300bhp, if you want “worry free” reliability. You need to consider associated factors such as the effect on driveshafts/cv joints/hubs/wheelbearings etc, & not just the engine.

As for upgrading the engine internals, Ian @ Clockwise is your man!

Ah well. I think I will leave it at 300 ish then. No point being fast if its going to be in the garage every week. Might have to look at bikes again for the accelerative hit …

sorry forgot to ask, do you have a website address for clockwise ?

You could fit the charge cooler and a larger pulley, you would get a more stable/ reliable engine.

There you go mate Clockwise Motion

I think there are chargecooled cars out there running standard internals that have done sufficient race miles to prove them fairly reliable now.

There is a link-up dealer in the North, but a bit further North than you. If you wanna have a chat about upgrades give me a call.

Cheers

Dan

Mines been ultra reliable in every way. It’s been run at 330+bhp for ages and 370+bhp for a good 4 or 5 months and done loads of trackdays. Standard internals apart from cams and valve springs.

The only thing I would say, is that the over-the-top race exhaust does take alot of heat away from the driveshafts. Plus Scuffham really, really knows his stuff when it comes to mapping, which I believe is the key factor. (touch wood)

That’s excellent news Jamie - good job you’ve got a nice wing to keep you planted to the tarmac

However, “reliabilty” means different things to different people. For me, I’d be expecting 50K miles over 5 years, including doing about 10 trackdays per year.

Yep, I understand what you’re saying regarding reliability. Also, some people probably wouldn’t want to get their cars checked over/serviced etc as much as me.

And yes, the wing does a brilliant job of keeping the rear planted. So much so, that when me and Junks took it all apart when it was being painted, the chassis longerons and wing supports were all bent, due to the downwards pressure being applied!!! Have you experienced the same?
