S1 Exige engine cover hinge

Roadboy, in another thread, thinks he has one of the above if he can find it. But, if not, can anyone else help, please?
It was the opinion of several at Anglesey that my problem with the engine cover not fitting so snugly on the leading edge may be due to the existing hinge being bent (the engine cover was caught by the wind a few years ago and the hinge best slightly. I straightened it out but maybe did not make it quite as new)
I’d like to try a different hinge to see if that helps before going down any other avenue.
Ta, Thommo

Thommo, I’ve got one you can try, to see if it’s what you need. - I’m not sure I want to sell it yet.
I bought it off someone on here, for my motorsport Elise project, but not sure if I will be able to use it, due to the big spoiler I’m fitting.
If you want to come and pick it up and try it - you’re welcome.
I’m in Warrington.
Dave

Thanks, Dave, I’ve sent a PM

You know you can still get them new? Or at least you could 2 weeks ago!

Well, last time, I tried, they seemed unavailable but worth a try. Thanks,

Still available from Lotus Thommo as Phil states

unless I bought the last one last week?

So the lesson for us all is to be careful with our engine covers… :eh: The pneumatic strut addition should help… …but what about us with motorsport covers that are made of tissue paper… :astonished: bit more of a problem there …I am working on it. :sunglasses:

Thanks, Simon and Junks.
Not got round to trying 'em as yet.

Just ordered a new complete hinge. Thanks for help, chaps, especially Stratosboy ( who now has a PM)

New hinge arrived. Not too dear at all but Stratton made no mention of £10 carriage cost or VAT when I ordered . Maybe I should have asked , maybe I was too excited :open_mouth:
