S1 Elise owner tempted by S2 Exige

I’m new to exiges.com, as I have an Elise at present.
Can I justify to myself (and the wife) to keep the S1 Elise and have an S2 Exige as an everday car.
Unfortunately I seem to be tempted by the Krypton Green, is that sad for someone the wrong side of 50 ?
Oh, and I understand that I have to whisper this: I want to be able to take the roof off

I say go for it

& welcome

Tim

Have a look here if you need any more convincing that KG is a fab colour…

What a load of crap!

Well I wouldn’t have perhaps put it as strongly as that Dan, but there is something about the S1, a raw package approaching classic status that I just may want to keep.

And thanks for the link to the KryptonGreen pics david, I knew I shouldnt have come here, the temptation is bound to get stronger

They are totally different cars and I can totally understand why you would want both but the S2 Exige is hardly comparable to the S1 Elise as a replacement.

And in terms of actual driving experience and feedback, the S2 Exige is way behind. It is undeniably better in other areas though.

Like I said, totally different cars. But I stand by my previous comment.

p.s. Krypton Green is so the way to go.

I went from an S1 Elise to an S2 Exige via an S1 Sport 190, and an S1 Exige.

I still miss the 190 and the S1 Exige in some respects, but I think it’s really only the noise I miss.

Comparing the S2 Exige with an S1 Elise is difficult for me as they were about 5 years apart. Put it this way, I don’t miss it at all. The Exige (for me) is every bit as much fun, way better looking, and enourmously more useable as an everyday car. I say go for it, and maybe turn the Elise into a track hack.

Get an S1 Exige. My work here is done.

Nice idea, but does it make sense to have an S1 Exige for everyday use, and an Elise as a weekend car? Seems about as intelligent as going to the toilet without taking your trousers down

Besides, Steve wants to take the roof off

That bad on an S2, but unforgivable on an S1

If you’re looking for a more sensible Lotus for daily use, it has to be an S2.

Sense ? Schmense !

I have heard about blokes like you at a urinal in some public toilets, but never knowingly know one

Sorry, I was just (mis)quoting The Young Ones.

Yup, thought as much, exiges.com is much like every other Lotus forum where a thread degenerates into toilet humour in just a few replies.

Steve, exiges.com is best Lotus forum by far IMHO frequented by a rare breed, owners who care passionately for their cars, but don’t take the roof off
