"S" is for Stalling...

After a re-flash earlier this year, my car STILL keeps on stalling. Has anybody had this as a problem and had it properly rectified? It happens with air con on or off, it makes no difference. Its crazy, driving along normally just changing down gears even at speed it can just cut out and you end up bump starting it on the down change!

Check for air leaks, make sure the SC jubilee clips are all tight (the lotus ones are rubbish) a blowing exhaust can also cause this all little things helped mine but never stopped it completely…
The only thing that finally fixed mine in the end was a flash to the Gotham tune

Mine stalled, kind of died at idle actually but other way around motor sport reflash sorted mine out…get it redone for starters Howerver more recent I also had something like this due to a dodgy loom from the Lambda sensor which affected my idle mainly and sometime stalled the car like yours. Check O2 sensor, loom too and yep air filter, fiddle with it (p122 0ff Pesky ) at idle!

I’d agree on the air leaks, anything on the vaccum side will cause this.

A faulty lambda / 02 will do it also - you tend to see a drop in MPG when these fail.

MAF / MAP sensor can do it too.

Thanks for the info chaps, most appreciated! Tomorrow I will check all the vacuum connections etc plus the charger pipes. I havent had any MIL light issues so I think all the sensors are ok and I get about 32MPG, which is far too much I know. Ive booked it in at B&C (as ever Andy very helpful) in a couple in weeks time to see if they can shed any light on it. But if that doesnt work I am very tempted with the Gotham route. The thought of more power is very tempting indeed and this seems a really good excuse to upgrade.

Gotham makes things very interesting!

With the Gotham chip flash (you will have to excuse my ignorance ) would I be best off changing the exhaust/manifold and the intercooler for a charge cooler before I upgrade the chip i.e. is the chip tailored to and individual setup? Im building up to spending some coin but I want to do it right first time.

The charge cooler will just allow the Gotham to keep the timing at the optimal point. Without it, in hot weather, the Gotham will pull the timing back as the intake temperatures heat up. Cooler air, more power, Gotham or not. The Gotham was tuned with the standard exhaust. If you put on a header, you will likely loose power, or run too lean and risk engine damage. Just an exhaust will probably not make much of a difference. Charlie is working on a Gotham tune for a header, but it is not out yet.

Agreed, Gotham and TRD airbox and exhaust will all work together, manifold might be an option speak to Wayne at Sinclaire to see if they have a map (I know they are working on them) Chargecooler comes next before smaller pulleys and 300hp if you want to go that far

Oh yes! As Churchill might say.
