Rubbing inner wing! Too fast? Too soft? Too heavy?

I was hammering the car at Croft the other day and I have worn through the front inner wing. Any ideas (other than the suspension is set too soft)? Oh, I don’t nornally have a 15 stone passenger mind! Then suspension feels nice, so I would rather not tinker.

Oh, has anyone bought those stainless fastner kits on eBay? Wondering if they are any good.

Cheers

Holes in the liner are pretty common…

Wear them with pride !!

Essentially it is the spring rates that allow the car to roll sufficiently to wear the liners, and if you are happy with them you won’t want to change them…

YOu can adjust the anti-roll bar, going a bit stiffer, but that will also change the handling characteristics…

I would suggest that you try changing the anti-roll bar settings cos you might find that stiffer is even better !!!

If you mean wheel arch liner than you’re alright, (amazingly enough) it’s normal! The very last cars had a slightly modified version with a slightly higher centre section but most people have rubbed through theirs. The modified one should be available through a dealer.

Try a search on ‘liner’.

… stiffer is even better !!!

How do you adjust the ARB my inner wheel arch liners have about 12" of holes in them?

Christian

It won’t make much difference.

My car has the Lotus Adjustable ARB on full stiff and has stiffer springs 400/475 and has still rubbed through, it was so bad I could actually hear it doing it at Zandvoort!!!

The trouble is the Lotus standard setup is way too soft so there is a silly amount of body roll. This is made much worse if you run sticky tires. I run Toyo’s and havn’t had a problem with the liners on the front at least. The real answer is to have a much stiffer setup.

I agree with Chris - the stiffer the better within reason.

I have 600 and 650 lb springs, which is too much for the road really, but I have intact liners…
