The time has come for a new engine, and as I have a standard 1.8 k-series I might as well get my hands on a VVC unit.
My question is will I need to get the ECU from a VVC or will my current ECU work ok, I have the optional Cobra alarm system installed will that pose any problems ?
and what does Ps ? stand for ? was looking at 160Ps engines
PS stands for Pferdestrke (German for ‘horse strength’) and is the DIN (Deutsches Institut fr Normung ) hp as opposed to SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) bhp.
PS is a slightly higher figure than the SAE bhp that we quote, I think about 5% higher (no doubt and expert will put me right soon!)
You will need a VVC ECU, immobilisor and engine loom.
Dave
All the engines I have got quotes for include the ECU and immobiliser how will this work with my alarm system ? I have the Cobra A6422 fitted, this was done by lotus, factory fitted, I would prefer to keep the Cobra alarm. Or am I just causing problems for myself ?
There’s no “d” in “an”
Arrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!
You see how easy it is to be a pedant
Is this a big job I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty but dont fancy a complete rewire all this has to be done in 1 day on my driveway, oh to have a garage! my car is my daily transport so I have to get it done and out the way.
