Rover 220 coupe turbo engine

Does anyone know if the engine from a 1997 Rover 220 coupe turbo will bolt into the Exige engine bay? I would have thought it should go straight in.They produce 200bhp in standard guise before you even start playing with the head and fuel injectors - probably less stressed than a 190 bhp lump as well.Alternatively, I was considering an engine from a 1992 214 si diesel and using it as a taxi!MikE

I had a 220 Turbo Coupe but thankfully the warrenty paid for the 7k of engine work it needed! The were all awfully made. Cruised nice on the Motorway though. The engine is all torque and I don’t believe it is K-series and much larger.Drank oil, when it wasn’t dripping it! All in all, URK!Rover are however currently building a turbo K-series.Ian [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

200BHP…hmmmm we get more than that now !!I wonder how much it will produce with a ported head, 1227 cams, big valves…oh no here I go again … [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image][This message has been edited by Phil Davies (edited 19 July 2002).]

Wake me up when they’ve got more than 280bhp from one… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/tongue.gif[/image]

Phil, how is your beast coming on? still on schedule?cheers,Bruno

Morning Bruno, so far so good, the M3D ECU should be arriving today, i got it from QED in the end rather than Emerald they had been promising it was being sent for 6 weeks now, QED had a couple to evaluate and sold me one…With a bit of luck i should have a running engine this weekend [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

Good old QED, the ecu has arrived !!

puuhhh…it seems that you have been a bit let down with delays and all that…first DVA and then Emerald…oh well, you got there in the end…but it does need a bit of strong nerves…doesn’t it?..I know what I’m talking about… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] at the moment, I’m facing a high oil consumption which my beast didn’t have before the conversion…oh well…I suppose I have to get shares from an oil company…:rolleyeswhat ocurred as well is a backfiring [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]if you go off the throttle…acc. to Dave Walker is that coming from the back pipe…I’ll keep me fingers crossed for ya that yours will be running by the end of this weekend.later,Bruno

Hey matey…ITS RUNNING !!!Had some problems mind, like the Ignition driver on the software was set to “single” so only cyls 1 & 4 were running [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/shocked.gif[/image] …thanks to Steve Butts for helping me out there [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]Even with the standard map before anything has been changed, the engine just revs so freely its incredible, touch the throttle and she hits 5K rpm, ohhh and sound of Geary’s exhaust (twin pipe outlet) is just beautiful [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]First time the engine has run since April, i am a happy chappie tonight [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] bring on the beers !

Phil, oi, that is good news. does your right pipe also make this odd burbling noise. It does get on me nerves and I have asked Geary to send me an oval end pipe.later,Bruno

Yep it sure does !!, real funny noise, i thought it was due to everything not being timed correctly !Geary will also let me know when the oval is in as this is what i wanted but Graham only made the twins on the last batch !!Also noticed most of the air came out the left pipe which is following the curve from the silencer box, so it may be sucking in air from the right ?
