Rolling road advice

I have my new VHPD in now - a completely standard unit with the standard ECU, but the cams have been correctly timed (by Paul Fisher) with verniers fitted.

It works but the map is suboptimal and there is clearly work to do. As it happens, I have a spare Lumenition GEMS ECU from my old race engine.

I am looking for a tuner that knows the GEMS and has access to a rolling road within easy travelling distance of Cambridge or Sheffield. I would like a racing map developed, hopefully one that will fix the total dead spot at 3000rpm. Ideally I would like to get the engine set up before 12 May.

Any recommendations?

I am sure some one on here can help more. But i would recomend EMERALD(Dave Walker) not the cheepest but knowen as one of the best

I’ve thought of DW and he is excellent, but does he do “other” ECUs than Emerald?? On the other hand, doesn’t Emerald also do a GEMS unit?

Thanks

Dave is far too busy to book ECUs other than the Emerald. He does no other ECU than these.

Dave

Begs the question then who could remap a Lumenition GEMS unit local to me - do you have access to other RR tuners around MK, Dave?

Thanks

Why not call Lumenition and ask?

There is a RR in Bletchley that does mapping…

Dave

I could indeed, but often personal recommendations (based on recent experience) are worth a lot more.

The best recommendation I’ve had so far (from someone I trust implicitly) is Dennis Vessey up on Humberside - he is a Lumenition dealer. Anyone else have experience of him?

Racing Developments?

They could do it but they would probably be starting from scratch with mapping the GEMS.

Thanks

I have a near perfect map for an Exige for the Emerald. Given the MSPB value for both ECUs it would be straightforward to interpolate the fuelling values from one ECU to the other, likewise interpolating the igntion across a different number of load and speed sites would be a straightforward operation involving a couple of simple functions. This would get you a well developed map which should only require minor tweaking.

Dave

These might be worth a punt - they do lots of Elise, Caterham work as well as building all Noble Cars engines - had my Exige on their RR.
