Rev limiter issues

Well, its happened.

Change up light comes on at 6000 and rev limiter cuts in at 6500!

Been like it for 2 days, switched on and off many times, started and stopped but it hasn’t cured itself yet.

Temp sensor fubar’ed I guess?

Anyone else’s car needed attention to sort out this TADTS?

Car has just come back from a prolonged stay in the garage where the battery went flat before I collected it. It has been on a trickle charge at home since arriving back. If they jump started it can it have spiked the ECU?

so just mine then…

Guess so. I haven’t had any such problem myself.

Sounds like the ECU is in ‘limp home’ mode mate. Might need to get it on the diagnostics machine thing

Check your not low on oil as it also won’t go onto second cam if you are.

Chris

Booked in saturday so fingers crossed.

Plenty of oil though, it does make the change to the 2nd cam [mine is the reflashed ecu with 5700rpm kick point]

Lotus feedback is either temp sensor is fubar’d or VVT gubbins (expensive!)

As it makes the cam change I hope it’s the former

the saga continues…

diagnostic shows “full retard” issues [car not me I hope!] so it looks like its the cam position sensor, which has to be ordered…

One or two dealers are reporting having to replace these recently.

That’ll be another week then

Right, it seems that its the hydraulic gubbins that activates the cams. Hope that’s not too technical for you.

feck nick, whos sorting it out for you? any idea on the cost yet?

SW Lotus are sorting it for me.

I picked the car up from the bodywork repairs and it happened on the way back to Padstow

Took it back last weekend to go on the diagnostic machine and got a puncture in the new rear 048 en route!

No idea of cost yet, just want her back working. Fear it will be ’s though.

Car dropped off at SW Lotus last night so now I’m the driver of a Proton courtesy car… that is slower than a very slow thing!

Fingers crossed
