resistor park

Well I have now save up to get the resistor pack changed and being away from my car for a few months, dam its been hard. Lotus say they can get the resistor for about 85 pounds and which is ok but also say the heater blower will have to be changed because it may have corroded the connection to the resistor. Does any1 think this is true or is it away of them making money, not really bothered about it but its 180 pounds for the blower. Which all in with labour is close to 1k.
2nd thing when switching the A/C on there is not click which you get when turning it on, but I take it this is due to the
resistor pack being defective.
please can someone help.As booking it in when home in a few weeks, from a 4 month deployment.

I mean PACK in the forum title, trying to write this while not getting caught.

Try a local specialist instead, it will be a lot cheaper, I have not personally heard of the motors needing to be changed as well, but it might be possible. Anyway best of luck getting it sorted.
As you are in kent, local specialist would be Lakeside or Sinclaires or Maidstone sports cars, I only have experience of Sinclaires who are very good, others might have opinions of the others

I got Libscombe just down the road from me. I do trust them alot as been going there for 2 years now. Will email the above soon to see what they say thanks.Need to get it sorted as not having another winter without heating. Dam it was cold.

All well and good but as a main dealer they are expensive and charge the hourly rate for time regardless of how long it really takes, a local specialist will be cheaper

A grand to change the resistor pack  that would kill me.

ok cool will defo look into it then.

If Heathfield is not too far, try Simon at Modern Classic Sportscars. Excellent reputation (see Sussex site in SELOC)

Dont think it is too far from me to be honest, will look into that one as well. Tell me about it Mike I hate the fact that its 1K to do and its a know fault with the elise and exige.

I changed my blower at the same time as the reister pack as it was in a complete state. Didn’t really want it to fail shortly after having all the front off etc.

Mine’s on 04 car and had spent everynight outside in the rain until it was changed last year.

Can’t remember how much i paid but it was a lot less than 1k (more like 500 inc blower)

Thats what im thinking as well, so may just take the hit and change the blower. 500 inc blower thats alot cheaper than the 1k I been quoted by lotus. Who was that with? if you dont mind me asking. oh and is that fitted with a/c as well?

It’s a little hard to work out from the bill the exact amount because i had other bits done at the same time including a fairly major service and stiffer engine mounts.

It was done at lotus sport at the factory.

well just had a email back from sinclaires and have been quoted for the labour and parts. Does seem cheaper then what Lotus have to offer which is good and think I will op for a new blower, for knowing my luck the old one will go once the resistor has been fitted.Just waiting for a reply to see how long it takes them to do.
