Residual values

What sort of risidual values have people been gettin when buying a new Exige S??

Thanks

Stuart

Scan the classifieds on Pistonheads and you’ll get a good idea.

yeah i’ve been having a look there. I was just wandering how much of a difference finance companies put the cars residual at compared to the real world value. A couple of years ago yu were getting really good residual values but after the market crashed the finance companies were giving really low values. The price of the Exige’s dont seem to have been affected too bad.

You’ll lose 10k the moment you drive it off the dealer forecourt.

If you buy an Exige S 240 and pay 39,999 it will be worth 30k 2nd hand by the time you’ve put 6k miles on it.

A Lotus is not the sort of car you should buy based on residuals. You will lose! TBH no worse really than any other car when bought and sold in the Lotus community but these cars are not about money. If you are buying one with a “financial head” on then you should look elsewhere.

I’ve spent at least the equivalent of a years depreciaton in toys, tyres and brake pads in the last month.

Most i’ve ever lost on a car

8k in 18 months, and 5k miles!

But oh what fun miles they were

8k in 18 months is not terrible, as anyone who ever bought an E46 M3  on of my friends lost 18k in 20 months :frowning:

If you keep the thing and do loads of miles in it who cares about residuals?

Agree completely that residuals really shouldn’t be a consideration when buying these cars. I’ve just bought a new fully loaded Exige S and 3 weeks and 350 miles later I’ve lost a packet. Don’t care though - the experience of owning and driving one of these cars is priceless.

Sorry I didn’t word my question very well. What I meant was when buying the car with a ballon payment option what sort of balloon payment are the finance companies putting on the car. I was trying to work out what my monthly payments would be. I should be hearing back from the garage today about it. . . . .now just to decide what colour to pick!!!

Ah ok that makes sense, my car is one of the early S2’s and I would think it would still make 22k if I returned it to a standard car, it’s 3.5 years old with 18k miles now and the original cost was 41k with all the options it can with.
And before any of you lot (you know who you are!) chime in yes I’m sure it is worth more standard than how I have modified it
