After fitting a new fuel pump the gauge reads 11lts when the tank is empty, is there any way to reset? There didn’t seem to be any adjustment on the float when i clipped it to the new pump.
I think you just need to bend the arm? check that the level sensor sits the same relative to the new pump as it does to the old?
There is no calibration as such, so what you need to do is check the resistance of the sender unit.
When full, float at the top, it should measure 249 Ohms and when empty 38 ohms.
Note however that the units are crap and can stick so check its really moving through its full travel, as George suggests it may need a little bit of “help”
I have the very same issue, 11 ltr is about 2 ltrs before it runs out of fuel. I was looking at an inline resister but was worried about the heat disapation, bending the arm is the easiest way to go. Is access to the pump easy?
Also when the pump is out of the tank and the arm is at the lowest it will go, does the gauge read empry, if not no amout of bending will help.
So does it read 47 Lts when full!!!
Bravo Andy for the ohm range for a working float. Apparently, when I swapped the pump, I fouled up the float arm - I get a range from 380’s to 300. Now I have a target to shoot for.
Excellent! Thanks for the replies lads, gives me something to work with. Hope i don’t have to take the tank out again
You’ll have to remove the tank to get the pump out.
