Request for picture of VHPD vacuum lines with IACV removed

Can anyone who has a VHPD with the IACV removed possibly post a picture of their Vacuum setup? I’m looking for a bit of inspiration.

The cabin heater flap is operated by vacuum (aircon car) so potentially still needs a vac feed. Just trying to work out a plan for what goes where.

Any help is appreciated.

I am a bit confused by this. My car has the Iacv fitted but if you removed it all that is required is to block off the two hoses coming down from the throttle bodies and the vent into the airbox. Two bolts in the hoses and a grommet over the airbox hole should do the trick.

I would recommend leaving the Iacv, it makes idle control much better and a steady 1000rpm idle is possible.

There’s also the breather bar that connects to the vacuum feeds to consider too. It’s this that I’m interested in.

As I’m running an Emerald I have the option of running the idle without the IACV. I’m following various guides posted by DVA about how to do this. Simplification of the idle system can’t be a bad thing.

An added complication is that as my car is an Aircon version so it also has a vacuum reserviour that’s used to modulate the heater flap in the cab. It’s all a bit convoluted. A plan is forming, but it will only reach full clarity once I’m standing over it.

Doh. I see now your confusion Win! I was quite wrong. Breathed rail is for the Charcoal canister.

All becomes clear. No wonder people didn’t quite get what I was talking about. Cheers!

No problem.

I would still suggest you use the IACV, I did with my Emerald and it is useful. Just map it so it is closed up as the coolant temp rises, it will give you a fast idle when cold and make the car much easier to drive. Without IACV you will either always have a high idle speed or the engine will keep dropping out when cold on idle. It will take a few cold starts to get the mapping right but it’s worth it.

Thanks Keith. I’m not chucking any of it away so can simply put it back if it doesn’t work out. First pass at setting it up has gone well. It might be that the IACV mapping was poor. Certainly so far the idle is much better. But as you say, it needs to be useable in normal use and I’ve not tried it out on the road yet.

Worth a try, just map it fully closed or off in the emerald. That will save messing with the pipe work.
