Repairing rear LED tail lights

Hi Everyone

Ok, so I’m suffering with the old LED rear light failure.

Have taken the unit out and found that a bit of heat (heat gun) applied round the back of the unit has now got 2 out of the 4 non-working LEDs working again.

Anyone ever taken one of these apart? Dremel / heat to be able to pull the lens off the black plastic bit at the back?

I would have a wild guess that the solder just needs reflowing on the PCB inside and that all of the components are just fine.

Anyone got any tips?

Cheers

becareful, and good luck…

Is your car an 06 by any chance? The LED lights on the earlier S2s were known to go. Lotus changed the design of them after that. They went on mine and I had to get them replaced with the later ones.

yup, it is.

Have got it working again now (for how long, who knows) - hot air gun etc etc.
