I have taken the carpets out but not driven car much since so have a question for those of you that have…
Do your heels grip ok on the floor if wet, or do you think it needs some Grip Tape?

I leave mine in the car, take them out at the track, and use them as mats to dry my feet before getting in. If you did have damp feet then I think your grip tape idea is a good one.
I have them out and yes it’s slippy D, but not like an oil spill or anything. When wet I blow the fans down on full for a little while.
How about the stuff they stick to the surface of skateboards?
I’m now considering taking out the carpets etc out of my car, it is gradually turning into a track rather than road car…
There is something like that there already I think under the carpet…?
I kept the side runs in as they are like new!
Ade, that is the stuff I meant, Tweeks sell it 10 a roll.
So go on, how much weight did you save by taking out the carpets? I must admit I do like my shag pile then 2 cupholders and no carpet would just be silly there must be a better way to save weight.
I must say I dont get why lotus dont fit the 260cup subframe as std now they have developed it.
Carpets are normally removed for safety reasons (fire) rather than weight saving on track, but I’ve never removed mine. Must be an incontinence thing!
What is different about the 260 Cup subframe matey??
Covered in carbon fibre lookalike vinyl, but you can still use the same size subwoofer! Bloody coupe drivers!

It has a lightweight coating they say, it tells you somewhere how much weight they saved with it but I cant seem to find it?
I think Randy had his Europa subframe shotblasted for the same reason.

Oh ok, to remove the galvenising. I had that done to mine as well, saved about 3Kg’s. Looks a lot nicer powder coated too.

Subwoofer…do you mean underdog? That would apply to the now aged S1’s surely
We all have 8 Track players
Yes a disappointing amount of weight saved, will be putting the boot liner back in as it is more practical that way.
Keeping the cabin mats out though as the grip tape is much better.
I’ve found that by getting rid of the sponge bit under the boot carpet I can now fit my helmet into the corner of the boot giving me a lot more space. I may have a big head but it’s worth checking for yourself.
The grip tape is a great addition as I found on my extremely wet day at OP recently.
I will also add some in the areas I use in getting in and out of car.
