Reluctantly, it's gotta go.......

Hi Chaps, despite my initial plans to compete in the mid-engined sports cars this year; a change in circumstances and an opportunity to invest in a new business means that my Lotus Motorsport Elise is up for sale I’m absolutely gutted - I spent last year bringing the car up to the standard it is now and was looking forward to racing it on June 3rd - I even had the test day booked on the 2nd!!?? The wife tells me that I should sell, rather than re-mortgage the house to raise the investment - Darn!!! If anyone’s interested, please follow this link: Used cars for sale | PistonHeads UK

Plan’s have made me what I consider to be an unreasonable offer - they even told me that “I should do very well in that” (they haven’t seen me drive!!??), but I am open to realistic offers. As for the future, I’ll be back in a Lotus just as soon as I can afford to race one again, probably 2007 or 2008. Thanks.

Shame to hear that, but I expect the car will sell quickly!!

Come back soon when the business takes off !!!

Thanks Mike, I’ve only just put it up for sale, so too early to tell, but we’ll see.

I’ve had a bit of a thought though. I could use this time over the next 12 - 24 months to build one I reckon I could sneak a bare chassis into the garage without her knowing, or rather she’d agree to a cheap 100 chassis and just go from there. Which leads me to my next question - S1 or S2 chassis. I believe the S2 has the cut outs in the sills and would allow me to use an S2 body, or Lotus trackday car thingy body, but could I still put an original Motorsport Elise body on it?

And you know what my next thread will be… which engine

sorry to hear you have to sell, but what a foookin amazing opportunity for someone…, whish i was closer to the racetracks and had 29k… mmm… maybe i could swap

Sorry to hear your having to sell, looks and sounds like a great car!!!

Sean…

Hey RoxTeddy, what’s wrong with Knockhill?, but I agree (and no disrespect to Scotland) but Scotland is not the best place to commence a racing career.

You’d swap? - I’m sure you would!!??.

Sorry to hear your having to sell, looks and sounds like a great car!!!

Sean…

Thanks Sean - we have the same sequential gearbox and I think you’ll agree that’s one aspect that I’m going to miss the most. The Elise with that gearbox makes an awesome combination IMO. Best not think about it too much…

Hmmm, Yes and no. I would love one, as I would love to have many other cars, but at the moment, no. I think if an Exige suddenly appeard in the garage, I’d be needing to sell the house too, in settlement of the impending divorce!!??

Just buy it - you know you want to

Thanks JasonR, I’ve sent you one too.
