I am going to help relocate a battery in my mates clio to behind the passenger seat.
Now it is obvious I need a large thick piece of cable for the positive connection back to where the battery was, but what type of cable?
Also can I just earth the battery straight to the body? Or should I run a negative cable as well?
Ta
Where does the existing negative lead go to? If there is only one lead and this just goes to the shell, the you can do the same in the new location.
Can I ask why you’re moving the battery anyway? For safety it should be in a sealed battery box and you should also check on the legality of having the battery in the passenger compartment, eg. for motorsport, etc.
Just give it a good solid earth to the chassis, be fine.
BMW use the chassis as earth.
His current battery is dead (wrong size for the car anyway) I managed to get a new PC680 for him for a good price and apparently behind the passenger seat is a good place that Clio owners use.
Thinking about it more I might try and put him off having it in the car…
Common place is to put it in the spare wheel well, get the weight out back where a clio needs it and then put a plat over the hole.
Something like this should do ya ade

Just make sure you go for double insulated tri rated cable, it’s the flexible stuff and it can carry more load than the standard solid copper
You might want to check the size of the existing too as it depends on the size of battery so could even be 25mm
It should say on the lugs already on the battery or if you can get hold of some to try them on/hold them up to
