I have mistakenly drained my cooling system, whilst removing the head for modification (I should have just drained the top of the bores)…
Is it possible to refill it without the head being on ??
If not, what is the procedure with the head back on ??
(I read somewhere that you need to pressurise the system and that sounds like bad news )
Sorted - workshop manual sourced - you put the head back on first - then undo the bleed valve and remove (it is close to the plug leads) - then fill the header tank and attach a pressure pump to it (need to get one) - then pump slowly , keeping on refilling header until fluid comes out of the bleed valve - then reinsert bleed valve and do the same thing with the second radiator bleed valve which is behind the front left wheelarch liner - again going until fluid comes out of that - replace bleed valve and all should be well…
