Pete,
I think it’s the Recaro Apex model, they are fairly wide in the shoulders so you can only fit one in the car. I’m just sorting out a pair of race seats and the choice is a bit limited as I want two in the car. I can’t run to a pair of Lotus sport Carbon seats as they’re about 1750 each now.
I’m having a pair of race seats being made by a local manufacturer to FIA spec. The shell is due to arrive next week for a rough fitting so I can trim the edges as necessary to fit in the car, they also have narrow shoulder wings to fit side by side. It’s then going back for triming, hopefully with snot green cushions to match the car. If the job goes successfully then there could be a new seat on the market for Exiges at a very sensible price.

I’ll post some pictures when they arrive. [/quote]
The new seats have arrived at last and it was well worth the wait. I’ve had them custom made to fit two of them side by side in the Exige. It took a lot of measuring to maximise the dimensions… I hope they fit! They are a more comfy fit than the Lotus Corbeau’s and the Cobra racer 7. I tried everything while searching for a viable option. These are also FIA race approved, unlike most of the carbon shells.
I couldn’t believe my luck when they had that material in stock as well!
I wanted to fit them this weekend but that’s not going to happen now. I’m making some fixed aluminimum seat rails to lower the seats to their optimum and the motors just gone on the milling machine so we have to wait until next week now to finish the parts.
The good news is that the drivers seat is fitted. The rails fitted first time with no fettling which was a relief, well worth measuring up 5 times before cutting! I had to dremmel a couple of mm off the rolled edges of the seat shell at the front corners to clear the shifter mechanism.
The bad news is that the codriver’s seat isn’t in yet. With the passenger side of the car being narrower than the drivers side it’s a tougher challenge. The seat fits but when the rails are mounted it’s fouling the centre tunnel at the front.
It’s time to come up with a cunning plan but not tonight, I’ve had enough for now. It will fit
Job finished at last , see my Elise Rally thread in the Projects section of the forum.
I’d thoroughly recommend these Motordrive seats. The drivers subframe worked really well and was a good simple fit. The passenger side eventually fitted but was a nightmare due to the narrower side of the cockpit. I now know how to modify the frame and have the key dimensions but I’m in no rush to do it again!
