Hello All,
The seal around my rear window has come adrift and I’m suffering from higher than usual levels of carbon monoxide poisoning while driving the ‘wee red beastie’ about.
So going to re-bond the seal … then realised that unlike the Elise, the Exige’s rear window doesn’t just pop out. Does it?
Helpful advice / shortcuts on getting the rear window out gratefully received.
Richard
Rear clam needs to come off or slid back, then the roof taking off. You may possibly be able to force it out if you loosen off clam bolts and the roof etc, but I doubt it’ll be easy.
Or does someone else know a trick for this??
Is it possible to apply a run of mastic or butyl on the inside of the cockpit or have already tried that?
I was hoping to get the window out and do a ‘proper job’ on re-setting everything. It would be SO much easier if I could get the window out and laid flat to apply adhesives etc … but it looks like it’s a real task for what initially looked like the simplest of jobs.
Guess it’ll be repaired in place
Thanks for the comments
fix it up in place and then just make a note that the next time you’ve got the rear clam off, pop the roof off (a 10 minute job) and whip the window out and repair properly
If not removing clam would also use a temporary solution
