Rear Wheel Bearing. Is it a shared component?

Hi to the masses. Still alive alive O in deepest darkest New Zealand. Been having a great time in the last two weeks. lotus Cars NZ hace been on a country wide tour of l the tracks. I could only ponce a few days from work so had to settle for Taupo GP track, (A1 Territory) and an awesome little know track called Manfield in Fielding. Apparently all the Euopen driving legends of yester year raced here. One of the best circuits i’ve driven in a long time. I have some great in car chase footage to post on Youtube when i can work out how to do it.

Getting a little carried away, down to the question. Is the rear wheel bearing on an S1 Exige shared with any other vehicle? Does anybody have details of the bearing? Inside Diameter, Outside diameter, Thickness and type of bearing (conventional ball, thrust, roller etc). All the track work has played havoc. And back in the old world of NZ Lotus cars ain’t running down every road.

Any information is greatly appreciated as i’m buggered at the mo. Thanks guys

Hi

you could go to http://www.eliseparts.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=130_163&products_id=313

there’s a pic on which you can distinguish brand and type of the bearing

Yes got that page open and have seen the brand. just cannot decide what type of bearing it is? looks to be standard ball bearing, common axial and rotational thrust type. No dimensions though and Eliseparts as good as they are are 12,000 miles awy from me at the mo.

Have also attempted to chase this down in other Lotus web sites but no luck. thats why i’ve posted this thread. Thanks for your swift response anyways.

Timken JRM3938A is on page 57

What else do you need from Dr Google

Hi Jez Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself. Some of us did Manfield on the Lot NZ trip it included a lady mowing the infield on her ride on mower going the wromg way round whilst we were circulating Very NZ/
Re the bearing… what were the symptoms ?
Cheers
Bernie
We will be over in Jan so if you need some brought out let me know.

Thanks forthe offer Clive. My parents are here in 8 days so i’m planning on them bringing them out. Only trouble is at the mo i cannot budge the rear hub nut. Unbelieveable. Its as if its been welded on or Lotus have let slip some of their orange chasis bonding glue into the threads and hey presto its solid. Short of using some cutting implements i’m knackered. Already had to miss tomorrows final 60th Anniversary Lotus Cars NZ Track day at Pukekoe.
