Whats the big deal in getting this bliter to move. The manual says 220Nm. A.R.S.E More like 2220Nm. I’ve tried everything less dynamite and semtex. I’ve even tried to tighten it before loosening and not a millimetere of movement. Any one got any great ideas please?
If you’re sure the bearing is fooked, is it possible to heat up the nut with a blowtorch?
PS I know you’ve got one for making creme brulee
PPS Didn’t you learn anything at the taxpayer’s expense in all those years?
or go to a local garage where they specialize in truck repair or agricultural stuff
they ussually have the right equipment for this kinda torques
The tax paying public supported me well through all those tough years. The only thing is when its your bit of kit and i hasten to add my pride and joy and not one of Ant Bettys green work horses you tend to treat it with a little more respect. Never mind being 12,000 miles awya from Hethel and the birth place with not a great deal of back up as far as parts are concerned down here.
break out the big stuff methinks. Oxy Acetelyne and a decent torch. I think me needs a bit of heat on the job. Stand back the Mrs just keep your foot flat to the floor on the centre pedal, this barstool is about to get a bit of the ex REME muscle applied to it.
Watch and shoot, watch and shoot, This target will and i mean WILL fall when hit. or rotate undone when prompted!
Good stuff, Jez
Thought about you & Jo yesterday - as I treated myself to a bag of “RJ’s” licorice
So did ex REME muscle do the job?
Had the same problem with mine, solution came in the form of a 3/4 drive socket and a 2 meter long scaffolding pole with me pretty much hanging off the end of it !!
F’kin tight !!!
So did ex REME muscle do the job?
REME = Rough Engineering Made Easy
The REME muscles must have shrunk under the kiwi sunshine. I had a 3/4 knuckle bar and a metre long tube over the end withJo stamping on the middle pedal and the disc locked up solid and not so much as a knats cock of movement. I’m sure i heard it laughing at me. Stage two. Applying a little heat from an electric bow torch (courtesy of Aunt Betty, ahem). I could quite easily just drill and chisel through the hub nut but thats bodging it in my eyes. Some geezer in Norfolk put it on so it has to unscrew. I have got an impact driver coming from a colleaugue at work as a back up should the heat not be enough.
I will let you know tomorrow night.
Could it be left hand thread?
No they are both normal right hand threads.
Mine both came off pretty easily (well they were fookin’ tight but I got 'em off with a standard breaker bar… 'bout the only thing Exige that’s gone smoothly for me in the last 6 months!
At last the nut is off. It came off fairly easy when i got the rattl gun on it and a 3/4 inch drive and a 2 metre bar. Now the other side a refresh on the bearings. Or should i get the A arms plated at the same time and new bushes aka Esprit George style? Gets you thinking
For the love of god don’t Jez… before you know it your car will be in a million bits and you won’t be on speaking terms with your wallet any more
