I’m looking for some rear brake discs and just wondered what people recommend and where to purchase them from???
I think that most people use 282 or 288 mm AP or Alcon rotors on fixed bells.
Speak to Dave at Seriously Lotus mate.
Great news that the car is running at last,…it was a long time ago that we first hooked up at Bedford eh! Maybe we should do the same again later in this year…
Hi Ben,
Sounds like a plan. Not the best day at Emerald today. 201bhp at the flywheel and 150.7 lbft of torque. A lot of money and work for 10bhp and 10 lbft of torque. I’ll give Dave a call and see what he advises.
That’s not too shabby bud, what were you expecting?
Looking forward to actually seeing you on a trackday in a proper car instead of that piece o’ shit Pug
With the spec 225bhp. I’ve got 18% leaking from cylinder 2. Going back to mineral oil for a bit hopefully to bed things in a bot more. It’s done 400 miles so far. Cylinder 3 is 8% so 18% isn’t great. Very disappointed at the moment.
I had horsepower loss on mine, turned out to have been the valve guides shifting in the head after run-in because we’d cut material away. Neded to re-lap the valve seats after settling.
Mine now makes 215bhp at 8000RPM… I could/will open it up to 8500 and probably gain another 10 horses.
Not sure why you would be disappointed?? That seems pretty good to me!
When my Emerald was fitted on my last S1, it did not even give me 10 BHP more! But, it made the car MUCH more drivable, smoother, less sooty with over-fuelling and also enabled me to get through MOT’s without worry!
I have had 2 VHPD (in different Exiges!!) and have ridden in another 4 or so! ALL made very different BHP, ranging from 179 to 215. And I felt no discernible difference in their acceleration or speed around a track at all! I really do think we can all get a bit obsessed by this BHP thingy!!! I doubt whether anyone on here could a: Feel the difference in 10 BHP and a few torques or b: Have a quantifiable quicker consistent lap time as a result!
Jump up 30 BHP or more would however be a different matter… but that is going down the Honda route!
I’m going to running a bit more and then go from there. It’s far from correct at the moment. This is just the start of another chapter…
Try and turn the pages a bit quicker on this chapter eh fella
Different dynos will give different figures as well… or even the same dyno on different days.
My tuner said he could make it look like my car was making 240bhp if he wanted to, but what’s the point of that?
A lot of people use the Emerald dyno so it’s a good standard. May be it was down 20hp because the oil was at the max mark on the dip stick. I’ll keep telling myself that.

From what ive seen you need a handicap
I seem to have one now! I’ll get it sorted some how. Mate I’ve started racing MSA TKM Extreme just for fun and I’m consistent. Consistently at the back and its all 16 year olds kicking my arse. May be we should organise a track day and let them drive our cars? Could be entertaining.
Theres some talent amongst that lot then ??
Not forgetting money buys performance … even if engines are supposedly sealed etc…
Not sealed for club racing, there could be some dodgy engines. Would be a shame if there was.
