Rear Clam Protection

Can anyone let me know where I can buy the u-channel plastic trim that many people seem to have fitted to the leading edge of the rear clam just below the doors? Is it an official part or just a creative modification? My rear clam is certainly starting to look pretty tatty in that area due to stone damage …

I asked the same question a few weeks back; I bought it from lotus dealer, and it was about 10 - they give you enough to do about 6 though, so handy for when it falls off.

I’m not even sure whether my car comes with this, I just thought it was a sticky bit of rubber, iddn’t realise it was a specific part

Its there on the pics of your car - its down on the sill (the black bit!)

Steve Green recommended some stuff that he got from a company called car builder solutions - see their website.

Wraps further round the clam right under the sill. I’ve put some on mine and its better than standard. Its good value stuff and offers better protection than the standard ones IMHO.

Try a search for the old post as I can’t seem to find it at the moment.

Well I’ll be buggered… guess I’ll get to have a closer look when the damn thing turns up… just over 2 weeks!!@#$%#$%

(gotta get my wallet out though, pay for the shipping AND the GST bill!)

I gather Lotus should give them out free as it was a recall?? Having said that I had to pay dealer for mine.
Worth looking at alternatives as you need to replace it when it goes AWOL…

Also used the extrusion sold by car builder solutions… Fits a treat, all the way under the sill!!

Does anyone have the part number from the car builders website?

They seem to list a few different sizes/types

Anyone…??

Need to get some ordered this week if poss

I’d also be interested in the part number as I could do with some. Thanks.

I have searched for my original post but can’t find it.

I didn’t buy mine from this place - I came across mine via a different route, so I can’t quote which part number it is.

From web page

I would guesstimate that the TRMPVL at max panel thickness of 6mm and channel depth of 16mm would be the best fit - but it shouldn’t be that hard to measure on the car (I’m at work so can’t).

NOTE: No refunds from me if this is not the right size!

I’d also be interested in the part number as I could do with some. Thanks.

Just looked up some old invoices and found the following:

LA111B0877K 7.76 + VAT “Exige Edging st”!

Worth checking with the dealer before puting your hand in your pocket though

I definitely would not pay any money for the lotus product -whilst a quick fix product from the factory initially, it was not really up to the job on my car, thus an alternative was found that has been very reliable.
