Hi!
I’m about to do some work on my car.
And to aid access to the rear of the car I’m considering fitting a rear clam hinge.
But what is actually available?
I’ve know of what BOE are offering, see here
I’ve also seen something offered from Australia “aussieclamhinge”, but I haven’t been able to find a website, anyone?
Any other worth considering?
(The BOE one is a tad pricy…)
I had the hinged clam on my car - just taken it off as I’m fitting aero catches.
I’ve got the hinge mechanism and some of the fixings. It would require a little bit extra work in extending the battery loom and some modfication to the rear panel around the exhaust so its not attached to the clam. Open to offers if its of any use to you…
Please could you show some pics of how you’ve located the aero catches? Quick removable rear clam is on my ‘to do’ list…when I get my paws on my new car!
I might be interested , which hinge mechanism is it, BOE or AussieClamHinge?
Is there any descriptions around that explains what needs to be done around the rear panel?
I assume that regarding the battery loom I only need to extend the earth and + lead, right?
Cheers
Tor

I’m not 100% on which kit it is…think its the BOE though. Was fitted back in 2008.
Yes, its just the + and earth lead that needs extending. Not applicable for the elise. I’ve got a panel eliminator on mine, so probably mounts differently. All depends really on how quick release you want to make it really.
Well, I do need to get hold of some instructions and make
sure that I know which bits I need to source/modify myself.
“Half” a kit wouldn’t be much use
BTW what about the wiring for the rear lights, don’t they need extending?

I also found it
However, it describes the installation on the elise, I’m sure there are some minor differences on the exige, due to the different clam.
Another thing, what have you done with your battery?
In the BOE kit a battery tray for battery relocation is supplied?
The battery is in the same location. i think the wiring might be extended slightly - i didn’t install the kit, so would have to check the wiring on the car at somepoint.
Its pretty much the same as the elise, but you need to remove the roof and side sccops before tilting the rear clam.
I assume “the same location” as per the BOE instructions?
Which means I would have to find a way to relocate my battery(possibly the same way, by ordering the battery tray from BOE).

Sorry mate, not been clear - same location as oem. Located in the pasenger side of the boot. No battery tray required.
