Can rear callipers become jammed or “sticky”?
I have a wobbly brake disc problem new bells& discs but still getting brake binding at one spot on the disc.
can the callipers become siezed? the callipers are free on the mounting bolts and move in and out as expected.
Anybody used Brake Calliper Specialists for a rebuild??
Are sure the caliper causes the probelm? If your brakes do bind at a single point of the disc your brake disc may not run rectangular with the caliper mounting plane.
I found this picture somewhere on the net showing the problem and how to measure it using a dial:
You may use a more simple setup by just letting something point rectangular to the brake disc and just touch it and then turn the brake disc by hand. If you observe a changing gap the disc, its mounting or the wheel hub imay be the cause for your brake studder.
The symptoms of a sticking caliper are usually overheating brakes or dragging brakes and increased pad wear. If the guides of a sliding caliper are worn out you may have brake studder as well.
Are the pads wearing evenly across the face? - Had a prob some years ago and the steel upright on one side had somehow had become distorted so the caliper was not operating in the same plane as the upright - causing all sorts of issues
My ex-girlfriend bought me a de-cat pipe for Christmas from the same place you got you discs and bells from so I wouldn’t surprise me if there was run out. The flanges were welded on the p**s so it went back and they even moaned that I didn’t want it! What’s equally annoying is I never got a replacement Christmas present.
