Really annoying roof squeek!!

Hi all,

I have a really annoying squeek & knocking noise coming from the roof right behind the drivers head. Basically, the interior trim on the roof is pressed up against the rear roll-bar on the drivers side (there is a clear gap on the passenger side). Clearly the best solution would be to remove the roof and reallign it, but it appears that the rear clam has to come off to remove the roof, which is way beyond my meagre DIY abilities and seems complete over kill for removing a squeek, as it would clearly costs a fortune if I take it to a garage.

So, is there a way of removing the interior roof trim withour removing the roof or even adjusting the roll bar? If anyone has any ideas for other solutions I would be really grateful as it’s driving me mad at the moment.

Thanks!
Neal.

I had the same issue with mine, I just released the clamp by the rear screen, eased the roof up by hand and slipped in an anti-rattle mat, problem solved without unbolting anything. The anti rattle mat is a very thin mat of felt that has self adhesive on it. Most car dealers have it. A felt mat would also do it. Not heard a squeak now for over a year.

Here is an example of the sort of stuff we use at work
