Rattling wing mirror

Anyone found a fix for a rattling wing mirror?

Mine sounds like a washing machine full of cutlery.
At certain revs and sitting in traffic it’s terrible. Sounds like the glass mirror isn’t fitted right in its housing, in gently push the mirror, the noise stops.

Assuming it’s not the screw that’s holds the mirror onto the mounting plinth ( which is a nightmare to tighten). It’s just a case of removing the glass with its black plastic surround, applying some silicon to the inside of the mirror to attached it to the black plastic surround and refitting.

Whilst that sounds easy it’s not. You need great care and some slim plastic tools to remove the mirror. It’s held in place by a number of built in clips around the back of the mirror and the black plastic. Two on the top, two bottom and one at each side. You have to carefully bend the back case away from the clips and hold them “out” with a bit it thin stiff plastic. Start at the bottom where you can’t see any damage to the black plastic. If you break some of all of the clips, silicon will hold it back in place.

Cheers, think I understand from your description.
