radiator woes ...

So … I fix the gearbox and the ohlins are fooked .
I then fix the ohlins and now the rad is fooked !
Not having much luck here …
Anyone willing to share experiences with replacement radiators ?
Ie. Triple pass / brand etc.

Are you still on the standard rad??? If so it will be 42mm. If you havent had cooling problems and dont intend upping the power just fit one of the all alloy 42mm rads and forget.
If you have more budget go for a proalloy 45mm all alloy rad, slightly thicker for additional cooling and the welding is a little nicer, but both do a good job

What are the prices for those two Dave ?
Also how much more is a triple pass thingy ?
Deffo not wanting any more power here just looking for reliability now.

Apart from cost , are there any disadvantages in using a triple pass ?

None that I found, do it once do it right triple pass Proalloy

Yeah I never had a problem with my triple pass, but then I run an electric water pump. My memory isn’t great, but didn’t Randy take the triple pass rad off his car, because he didn’t think it was as good as a single pass, or he thought it made the pump work too hard or something??? I’m sure I remember reading something like that somewhere.

Triple pass here and no problems.

I have had 2 rads blow over the years. One of them 2 laps in at SPA, how inconvenient and much swearing.

EFA

LOL so true

I’ve just been running with a single pass rad, but with an extra deep core. Think it was a bit of a one off, if I remember it might have been 50mm. No issues with that, although given my luck don’t want to jinx it.

my triple pass took off 8 degrees temperature at spa on hot days, the temp is now a lot more behaved, it used to hit nearly 100 on cool days now it sits at about 92

I recall reading this in his Barcelona blog, but I think it was to do with the chargecooler rad??? If I recall the extra passes just made the resistance of the circuit more and put pressure on the pump whilst a faster pump through a single pass cooled more water. happy to be corrected

Eliseparts seem to be the cheapest for the triple pass at the moment.
Anyone know different?

Just had a new rad fitted by Phoenix Motorsport, Seriously Dave supplied it. The plastic end cap was leaking car not even three years old and done 15,000 miles.
Slightly thicker core than original and looks well made all alloy. It runs cooler too down from 91 now 88. I wouldn’t bother spending extra dosh on a triple pass unless you are racing, bit of overkill really and as said might be putting a strain on the water pump.

^^ cheers for that ^^
Im now running over 300 bhp tho so am kinda thinking it might be a prudent call to go triple pass in my case ?

They are a fiver cheaper than me on the pro-alloy one. Better get my pencil sharpener out!!!
I also stock this 42mm triple pass rad (Photo shows in black but they are actually unpainted alloy)
http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/radiator-tripple-pass-42mm.html £234.95 + vat

Dont forget eliseparts loyalty scheme makes their stuff even cheaper… particularly if the customer is on one of the higher tiers
In addition it makes ALL future purchases cheaper too !
I like the idea of pencil sharpening tho !
I aint ordered yet

Buy from Dave

Id like to … at a competitive price

I have some good used but perfect working order double & triple pass rads if anyone wants them, collection only, take your pick £150, charge cooler rads as well - £150, charge cooler units, 4 pot callipers…

Now I think of it I think it’s time to have a bit of a jumble sale!!
