Hi All, I am building an exige to possibly race in the championship next year. ( K Powered ) I would appreciate peoples opinion on what suspension to fit. I know that Nitrons are a defacto standard however would like to look at others. Is upgrading to 2 & 3 way adjustable worth the cost?
Cheers Tony
Hi Tony,
Wouldn’t having adjustable dampers affect which class you end up in? - in the elise trophy anyway.
I think two way adjustables are well worth the cost but only if you’re willing and have the time to experiment with them.
I would also consider having an idea of what the velocity graphs for any adjustable dampers you might try looks like too, as you can see how much affect adjustment will have -most dampers have a zone of their adjustment where no matter how you alter them it has extremely little affect and other areas where they are extremely sensitive.
I should mention spring rates too, as ultimately it’s these that you are damping! It’s worth making sure that the rate you intend to use is within the damping range. This can mean chasing your tail a little with re-valving if you decide to change rates much from where you started off.
As for the different ones available:
Dynamics 2 way - still available from Kelsport!
Ohlins 1,2 way - Lotus Sport, Plans etc
Nitron 1,2 and 3 way - Nitron / Eliseparts / Randy
Koni 2812 2 way - Pilbeam
- Many other brands of poor 1 way adjustable, twin tube designs.
Hope that helps a little

Hi Steven
Thanks for info, I am looking at either class B Trophy or still doing NorthWest with yourself What do you run, I like Ohlins also Nitron. What spring rates do you run, I will be using a dry sumped K in the back.
Cheers
Tony
Don’t forget to speak to Randy at Hofmann’s too :
Thanks for advice, just spoken to him, very interesting to hear his views. Almost decided to go for his 3 way Nitrons, not to bad a price.
I run Dynamics 2 ways Tony, spring rates are a secret though…
Seriously though as I run on slicks it wouldn’t really mean much compared to most peoples rates that have been developed on Yokohama 048s etc
