Racing K-Series Engine for Sale

I have decided to split my racing Elise S177LER after 3 years of non-use!!

Fully blue-printed, steel bottom-end 1800cc K-series engine for sale, built by Paul Fisher in 2008:

  • Brand new, virgin block and brand new GKN liners
  • Doug Kiddie steel crank
  • Arrow Rods
  • Omega pistons
  • Lightened flywheel/clutch/crankshaft pulley (King K)
  • Bottom end balanced by Vibration Free
  • High pressure oil pump and relief valve
  • Gas-flowed and modified VHPD head (DVA)
  • Piper 1444 profile cams and verniers
  • Colisbro guides
  • Paul Ivey valves
  • Long trumpets and large airbox (King K)
  • EBD long primary 4-2-1 exhaust, silenced cat pipe and box
  • High pressure recirculating fuel system (pump, swirl pot and pipework) - works with standard Elise/Exige fuel tank
  • Emerald M3D ECU
  • Modified alternator (large pulley)

All was built in 2008, run in and dyno tuned by Paul Fisher at MASS racing in Cambridgeshire. GENUINE (100% snale-oil free) 228BHP @7850rpm, 165lb/ft @6500rpm, better than 150 lb/ft from 4800 to 7900rpm. Dyno sheets and engine build sheets available.

The engine was fantastic. I have only raced it twice, in April 2008 (LMA Eurosaloons - Snetterton). In both races I started back of the grid due to tech problems, in both races I made it from 36th and 34th respectively to 12th in 12 laps, then ran out of fuel! (I discovered a massive fuel leak after the event!). Above all the very broad torque band made it a joy to drive.

Since then the engine has been in the car in storage waiting for time, budget and energy to go racing again. I’ve decided to cut my losses now and sell up.

The engine is currently still in the chassis and can be made available in 2 weeks.

ASKING PRICE 8,000 which is probably less than the parts cost of the engine and installation.

I will be selling the Quaiffe gearbox/LSD, AP 4-pot braking system and fully rose-jointed rolling tub separately.

Cheers

I got the engine running Friday.

Hasn’t run for 2 years - I turned it over by hand every few days for the last couple of weeks with light oil in the bores, then turned it over with the plugs out for a couple of minutes to get oil through the whole system, then plugs back in. Started first time and sweet as a nut!

The car is now back in storage and is secure for the next 2-3 months at least. I’d still be happier for someone to use it though.

Sounds like a good deal for someone. I’ve just built a similar spec engine, similar performance and it costs a lot to do it right.
