Race Harness

Looking to fit a race harness shortly to replace the regular seat belt and wondering what harness to go for (Williams seem fairly popular)and whether to get it fitted or try myself. Tempted to get it fitted to save some time and pain…

I guess lakeside is the nearest independant to me but not sure if they would be into this work??

Thoughts?

Lakeside can do it no probs… they have done alot of these as well as fiddling with race-prepped cars and roll cages etc…

Go with 3inch harnesses as they look and feel better than those cheap looking 2inch jobs. SafetyDevices and Willans are the two more popular brands

I have Luke, and they are OK as well…

Be sure to get the three inch version - much better, more comfortable and safer…

Be aware that on the road, harnesses make it much harder at junctions - you can’t lean forwards or across to get a better view - I can’t even reach the other door or window winder !!

Thanks for the comments - out of interest what should I be looking at paying for a decent set and fitting? Should I buy seperately then take to Lakeside and if so who sells these with out charging a mint (racespeed?).

Mike, comments make sense - certainly food for thought…

Some implementations retain the inertia reel belts as well, which can be a very good compromise, except fpr the extra weight of course!!

I bought a harness bar from Geary at Elise Sports, and also the Luke harnesses…

My son did the fitting - easy he said !!

escaper so you got a car then?.. or haven’t i been paying attention ?

If all goes well i’ll have a Silver 190 variant on Sunday !!!

Only immediate changes i’m thinking of are harness (hence question) and snap off steering wheel (might deter some likely lads for even trying to borrow it ! )

Any one going to Le Mans this year ? - couple of us are thinking of heading down on the Friday prior - would be nice to see a few others down there.
