As some of you know I have decided to go down the ‘race’ route and take my Exige to the next level.
Till now the decision has been to install an FIA roll-cage, full fire extinguishing system, cut-off switch, FIA fuel tank/bag-tank.
I shall take out A/C, speakers, stereo, passenger seat. install race seat (any suggestions as to how I can lose weight are welcome).
As to the engine, might switch to 2.8 pulley and change manifold. I want safe power since I shall be doing 12 lap races. Might even decide to aim for a solid 280 bhp which seems to be ‘safe’ for all applications - Road/Track/Race. Any suggestions on power limitations or SAFE power limits in so far as engine (not gearbox) are concerned are welcome.
Pesky will not approve !
I hear the words …
Can you elucidate on your driving prowess before fitment of such a device lol …

Let’s say I’m competitive on the track Admittedly there’s aways room for improvement and suggestions as to best bang for buck by way of driver tuition are also welcome! I’m here because I value your experience, criticism, and advice so keep them coming!
In October I did driver training at the Silverstone GP circuit with Andrew Bentley and it was really helpful. Had my car over in the UK at the time to do the jubu gears and other stuff.
The problem with Malta is that there is no track to do training and we can only race in Sicily. Tuition in Sicily is not a bad option either Russ
I have been running a 2.9" pulley which with a charge cooler and decent exhaust should see 270hp @ the hubs. My car has had that for ~15k miles and many trackdays.
you will need 650cc injectors and a decent fuel pump as well.
Have you considered putting the old 2 pot brakes on the rear and junking the heavy handbrake calipers?
Definitely take off the AC if it is a race car as it weighs ~15kg all in.
you might also want to consider removing the heater matrix as well.
Take out all the interior you don’t actually need.
Than buy lots of carbon fibre parts and you should easily get below 900kg, mine is below 900kg and I still have AC heater a radio with front speakers and the standard flywheel.
any suggestions as to how I can lose weight are welcome
Thanks in advance!

Very wise advice. I have lost 17 kilos since August - weighing in at 82.8 this morning and i’m 183 cm tall. Target weight 78 kilos.
A/C shall be removed as shall speakers, stereo, sub-woofer (yes i’m a nerd), passenger seat (while racing), etc.
Suggestion of putting the 2 pots at the back is super - shall take you up on that one.
Any more really cost-effective weight loss advice?!
As to power we are exploring changing the ECU. I already have an uprated fuel pump and injectors as well as the charge-cooler. I think an ECU, 4-2-1, and my 2Bular exhaust and sports CAT should do the 320 trick nicely.
Then it’s shedding as much weight as possible from the right places, starting from my belly

Sicily sounds good![/quote]
Believe me that is the question all of us have been asking since forever! We would love to have a practice track at least. We do have quarter-mile and a drift track as well as moto-cross and hill-climb. But no track for whoever simply wants to attend a track-day or for circuit-racing, time-attack etc…
You have a 4-2-1 manifold on a SC car, why not a 4-1?
Lots of us use Performance Friction pads, more reliable excellent race proven performance, but very dusty.
Also with weight…ish!
Laminova oil coolers will save 8kg
ProAlloy fuel tank 4.5kg
2Bular manifold 5kg
Odyssey Battery 4kg
Seats & Runners to CF & Ali up to 10kg
260 CF Roof 6kg
260 or Reverie engine lid 7kg
Access panels/side scoops to CF 3kg
Replace quarter panels (ebay) & Mudflaps (CF) 4kgs
Fog lights 3kg
Fit diffuser elimator kit 4kg
Replace bulkhead window with CF 1.5kg
All the usual plastic stuff you’d take out if racing from interior…loads!

Have you really shaved about 60kg off your car mate?
