R888 compound?

Apologies if this has been discussed numerous times but a quick search leads to pages and pages with not a lot on compounds.

My car has been in storage for a while and I’ve forgotten if I used to use medium R888 all round or if it was medium rears and soft fronts. Can anyone let me know if they’re using mediums all round and how they’re getting on? It would seem currently that they’re all you can get anyway?

Cheers

Mark

GG all round for me, which I think is Medium

Agree with Ade. Are the R888s widely available again now, after the production problems in Japan?

Not sure on the widely available bit Pesky, but most good outlets have them in stock!

GG all round, GG= Medium

I don’t believe that are widely available in all compounds yet.Wet or (soft) are still rare as hens teeth in the UK. Dry or ( medium) are more readily avaiable

Best way to check is call Alan Meaker , Competition Manager at Toyo Tyres on 01933 414537 and he will be able to tell you who / what his dealers have available throughout the UK

One of Main Dealers with his finger on the button is ,

Tyres South Shore Ltd

Thanks for the replies, guys - I’m not actually after any at the moment, just wondered if supply from Japan was getting back to normal.

I thought it was MDE that asked?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I always find it great that I can ask something in the morning and by lunchtime I’ve got a load of responses.

My searchings on the net lead me to believe that you can get front and rears in medium compound but that’s about it.

Looks like that’s what i’ll be ordering.

Anyone as Silverstone next Sunday for the full GP circuit?

Mark

Is the factory dependent on power from Fukushima? Could be a long wait…

Anyone as Silverstone next Sunday for the full GP circuit?

Who is that with?
might pop down and say hello

Yes, adjacent and other suppliers very reliant apparently and yes long wait for softs…

you can get the fronts in soft as well, but they melt in the summer

What about the new avon ZZR, I know they are in S1 elise sizes not sure about the exige/S2.

Avon Tyres - On Road. On Track. On Avons. [/quote]

No there not

Apparently there are more sizes coming out, that list may not be correct,

In Toyo tyres the compounds are

195/50R16 = SG

225/45R17 = SG and GGG

The SG is a soft/wet compound, GGG is a soft/dry compound.

Avon says they have no plans for Elise/ Exige S2 sizes in the near future ( they say insufficient volume requirement)

It’s with Silverstone direct I believe. I’m going with a friend in his Megane R26r as I’ve not got my tyres but a few of my friends are coming in their Exige’s. One is 260 cup and the other an NA S2. Should be fun it’s been a long time since I’ve been on track. If you do make it down we’ll be the group with Jersey registration numbers as we live in Jersey.
