R190BAH anyone know any info ??

Probably doesn’t have any nice shiny photos in it anyway!!!

Very true

O.k so with my chassis number being SCCGA1116YHC81146, 146 should be my build number should’nt it. If this is so, why does it say ‘prototype’ above the chassis number? When I asked Lotus what build number it was, they did say it was a very early one but they couldn’t tell exactly.

The last two owners on here also said it would have been one of the first cars built. This means the last 3 numbers 146 make no sense. Or I’m just not understanding the theory on build numbers properly.

Jamie

Sorry, musn’t have made myself clear. “If” your car was Exige build number 146, the last 4 digits of your chassis number would be 0146, not 1146. Only 600 (+ a few) production “Exiges” were built, so on the face of it, yours wasn’t originally a production Exige, & would explain the “Prototype” designation.

What do you mean by 600 and a “few” production exiges Rob ??
My red car is chassis no 0601 and surely it is the last car as it has a message on the bulkhead, “happy motoring in the last exige” and is signed by lotus motorsport staff !!

Sorry Chris, I didn’t know (or had forgotten, more likely!!) that yours is No:601. Accordingly, in this particular instance, “a few” = one :grin

Has Nigel signed the bulkhead yet?

Im keeping him well away from it anyway he’s been too busy giving Martin and Steve advise on how to fix yours

Well, they’re obviously not listening, cos it’s not ready yet

In actual fact, they’re making great progress & doing a fantastic job - went to see them on Friday. I keep telling them I’m in no rush for it for another few weeks (sorry Con!)

chop chop their pesky !!!

Why was it signed by the motorsport staff? At the time of Exige production, the motorsport facility was at a different location - ketteringham hall.

So presumably Admin’s Exige, as it’s the first one, reads 0001???

It should do, but wonder if it does?

Yes thats definately 001 Mr Admin beat me to it in an auction last year

Although i know its had a chassis change previously so maybe it dosent read 001, hope its not 602

chassis 001

ooooh spooky

David

So that must mean that mine is the first one then, before they actually gave the official first one chassis no.0001.

Dont bank on it

I’m not banking on it but I don’t see what else it could be. I have all the original sales documents somewhere and it is definately an Exige, not a motorsport Elise or any other derivative.

I may well give Lotus another call and ask politely if they can look into this a bit more.

Out of general interest can you post a few pictures of your car. How do the two clams mount? I know on the early ones they didn’t have the two mounting points behind the top edges of the windows. Would be interesting to see the engine bay also and whether anything there is in a “different” place.

Also if you look at this video posted by david, the vents in the front clam are clearly different

clicky

You’re correct, the two bolts in the rear clam just behind the windows are not there. Otherwise everything is the same as I have seen a few now. The front fake arch vents are one section only unlike the car in that vid.

Regarding the engine bay, its quite a bit different.

Mine has the split vent as in the video

I wonder if the one in the video and mine are the same car ??
